The study of factors influencing latrine use among residents was conducted in Kanyogoga Zone-Namuwongo. The study objective was to assess the factors influencing latrine use among residents of Kanyogoga Zone, Namuwongo. The study employed a cross sectional study design and convenient sampling method was used to select respondents from Kanyogoga. Data was collected using a questionnaire with close ended questions having a likert scale. Data was analyzed using excel and summarized into charts, tables and graphs. The results revealed that majority of the respondents were female young adults and had attained at least primary education. It was also realized that majority did not have household latrines compelling them to share the available facility an act that many residents never liked since it was perceived as inconveniencing. Availability of a latrine, the cost per visit, and distance from the living house to the latrine was a hindrance to latrine use. It was concluded that Kanyogoga does have enough latrines for the residents which leads to the resident sharing those that are available. The poor hygiene of the latrines makes them to hate using and sharing these latrines. The cost per visit makes latrine use unaffordable. It was recommended that public health program and policy makers start sensitization of the residents of Kanyogoga about the importance of building and using a latrine. More emphasis should be put on health education and continuous awareness campaigns about the dangers of open defecation to the residents of Kanyogoga slum.en_US
