dc.description.abstractThe study of knowledge, attitude and practices of female students towards prevention of breast cancer at international health sciences university Kampala Namuwongo. The main objective was to assess the knowledge, attitude and the practices of female students towards prevention of Breast Cancer. The study aimed at determining the knowledge of female students towards prevention of breast cancer, determine the attitudes of female students towards prevention of breast cancer and find out the practices of female students towards prevention of breast cancer. The study employed a cross sectional descriptive study design using quantitative approach. The respondents were selected purposively and a questionnaire with likert scale was used to collect data that was then analyzed using excel. The study results revealed that the Knowledge of Female Students towards Prevention of Breast Cancer which included the tumor growth within the breast tissue, abnormal cell growth in the breast without function, Brest cancer is the cancer that affects the breast tissue and Group of cancer cells that grow into surrounding tissue of the breast. The Signs and Symptoms of Breast Cancer included the discharge from the Nipple, feeling Pain, Bleeding, Breast Lump and Swelling Lymph nodes. The study also found out how Breast cancer can be prevented such as early screening, carrying out monthly self examination, having children at an early age, avoid exposure radiation, breast feeding the baby and avoid tight bras. The study recommended that government of Uganda should increase funding such that there is adequate provision of cancer medicine and experts in the hospitals. Also important to set up more health centers at a hospital level where cancer treatment can be accessed. University Administration to organize and schedule health education programs for the Students about the prevention, and treatment of Breast Cancer.en_US
