| dc.description.abstract | Introduction: This study assessed the role of sex education information and teenage pregnancy among secondary school teenagers in Nwoya District. In Uganda, 23% of the population is of teenagers. Teenagers are of public health importance owing to their sexual behaviors, which make them particularly vulnerable to sexual reproductive health problems including teenage pregnancies, whose prevalence is high at 33.3% in Nwoya district as result a study on sex education information and teenage pregnancy aim at finding it's contribution in reduction of teenage pregnancy in the district.
Purpose: The purpose of this study was to establish the role of sex education information and teenage pregnancy among secondary school teenagers in Nwoya District.
Methodology: Raw data was collected from the secondary schools of Pope Paul, Alero, Purongo and Koch Goma Secondary School using simple random sampling was used and both Qualitative and quantitative data analyzed.
Results: Findings indicate that most teenagers are aware of sex education information on prevention of teenage pregnancy with the availability of information on teenage pregnancy prevention and teenage pregnancy.
Conclusion: According to this study, sex education did not seem to play a role in teenage pregnancy prevention, which calls for more qualitative, and quantitative research to explore factors influencing prevention of teenage pregnancy.
