dc.description.abstractThis study intended to identify factors influencing usage of health management information system (HMIS) among health workers in Bombo General Military Hospital. It was based on objectives i.e to establish the knowledge of health workers about health management information system (HMIS) in Bombo General Military Hospital; to establish attitudes of Health workers about the usage of health management information system (HMIS) among health workers within Bombo General Military Hospital; to identify the health workers’ level of usage of health management information system (HMIS) in Bombo General Military Hospital. A descriptive cross-sectional research design was applied where 138 health workers who were included using simple random sampling. Questionnaires was cleaned, coded and entered into the Statistical Package for Social Scientists (SPSS) program version 16.0. There was a strong relationship between knowledge and usage of HMIS i. e health worker’s awareness (X2=22.073, P-value=0.000); having knowledge in using HMIS (x2=20.040, Pvalue= 0.000); having been trained in HMIS (X2=12.582, P-value=0.031); and clients awareness of HMIS (X2=18.358, P-value=0.000); There was a strong association between an employee’s feelings i. e feeling good or bad with the use of HMIS (CI=4.023-293.494, OR=34.364) compared to the employees’ support to the health management information system and usage (CI=0.083-6.619, OR=0.743). The following recommendations were made after the study by the researcher that more training be given to health workers with regard to HMIS Management of General Military Hospital Bombo should harmonize the format for HMIS forms. A computerized HMIS should be adopted by management of General Military Hospital Bombo to allow ease and quick information creation, storage and dissemination.en_US
