dc.description.abstractThe research entitled The Influence of Community Participation in adoption of sanitary practices in western Division Soroti District was carried out in Soroti Municipality, Soroti. The study focused on levels of Community Participation in adoption of sanitary practices. The gap of the study was that although a lot of emphasis has been put on adoption of sanitary practices, little was put on Community mobilization and adoption levels. The purpose of the study was to establish the Influence of Community Participation in adoption of sanitary practices. The purpose of this study were to establish the level of community participation on sanitary practices in western Division Soroti district; To determine the level of adoption of sanitary practices in western Division in Soroti; Determine the link between the level of community participation and adoption of sanitary practices in western Division and to document the proportion of other factors that influence the level of adoption of sanitary practices. A descriptive cross-sectional design was adopted, a sample of 154 households and 9 community leaders 3 from each of the study areas were studied. A structured questionnaire was administered to the local leaders (L.C.1). And self-administered questionnaire Data was analyzed using correlations, cross tabulations and regression in order to understand how the independent variable affects levels of sanitary practices. The study was successful 154(100%) respondents were interviewed. 81.9% of the respondents knew about community participation though their response varied from very often and often. The results significantly showed that 54.5% reported that they often attended this community meetings and 51.3% did attend community Activities. Participation by community in all levels effectively contributed to adoption of sanitary practices in western Division Soroti.en_US
